About me

Mission

I aim to help people realise their musical potential by the development of their voice. Apart from the sheer joy of it, singing can create greater self-confidence and a more positive approach to life. Whether you are aiming to win a national TV talent contest, get the lead parts in your local operatic company, or just want to have fun, I can help.

Music

I am a professional vocal coach, performer, vocal animateur and direct various local choirs currently:

    • Bourne Harmony – small a-capella vocal group

    • Canford Cliffs Community Choir

    • Rising Voices Bournemouth – a choir set up to support those who have been affected by cancer either directly or indirectly.

My qualification is Cert. Ed; L.T.C.L. (voice) Trinity College of Music, London. I have also successfully qualified as a Holistic Voice Practitioner with BAST: Brithish Academy of Sound Therapy .

I have a DBS certificate (formerly CRB check) and have public liability insurance through the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

I have been involved with music education for over twenty years and successfully established a music department in a local Bournemouth school, run various school choirs and for six years worked as a vocal coach at Bournemouth University. I am currently involved in developing my skills as a music therapist and work with people in hospices, special needs facilities and places where people are suffering from dementia.

I have performed as a soloist around the country in a variety of genres and venues. As an enthusiastic workshop leader I am always keen to pass on skills to encourage more people of all ages and abilities to sing or use their voices in a creative and authentic way. I believe that everyone has a voice and that music has the power to unite and transcend those differences that can harm us and cause disharmony.

Holistic

I sought a more holistic approach towards the development of the voice and vocal skills allowing one to be increasingly in touch with the voice as a natural extension of personality, identity, creativity, relaxation and well-being. As a consequence I undertook a period of study exploring Holistic Voice Therapy. I strongly believe in self-empowerment through the voice and can now offer the development of vocal skills in a therapeutic setting and regularly run chanting meditation groups or circles.

Art

I recently rediscovered my passion for painting and take inspiration from my love of music, colour, rhythm and holidays abroad!

I have attempted to convey in my pictures some of the colourful and energetic inspiration that I gained from my study of the expressionist painters.
